Revolution3 Anderson, SC 2012

If you are not familiar with Revolution3, it began in 2009 with one race and gained enormous media attention for the quality, attention to detail and the quality Pro triathlete field. Last year, REV3 expanded to three races and continued its upward trend of gaining a reputation unparalleled to other triathlons. In 2011, REV3 has continued its expansion to now include six races across the country. REV3 has made a name for itself in making their triathlons an exceptional experience for the athletes as well as the spectators. They go the extra mile including individual name plates for each athlete on the bike rack, a huge jumbotron at the finish line capturing each athlete crossing the line, ice baths at the finish line, great race schwag etc.

The REV3 Anderson REV Races was placed at Anderson Civic Park on Oct 13th and 14th. The athletes and spectators were extremely enthusiastic, and everyone at Anderson Civic Park celebrated the event.

Active Release Technique (A.R.T.) was REV3's choice for triathletes' soft tissue treatments. Team A.R.T. was at the Race Expo throughout the event days to treat the triathletes and the spectators. I was there as a part of the team on the pre-race day to treat athletes. I saw a bunch of different athletes with all different conditions from lower back pain to Achilles tendon rupture. About 40% of athletes I saw on that day had lower back pain. Basically, half of the triathletes were swimming, cycling, and running with lower back pain! Ankle pain was next biggest portion of the athletes' complaints followed by shoulder pain and neck pain. I will post a blog about common triathlon injuries, their causes, and how to prevent them later. It was my first experience for REV3 this year.

However, I alway get positive energy and motivation when I see serious athletes. This event made me to seriously think about try triathlon, even though it will be a long-term project for me.

It was a great experience for me to help them to go through this serious competition.
I will volunteer for REV3 as a medical team in one for Williamsburg (VA) and one for Columbia (MD) next year.
